wedding music (take 2)

Guess what?!

The incredible string trio who played for our wedding just recorded an episode of Indy Wedding Podcast!

Aaaaaaand...they talked about our wedding!  :)  You can follow this link and listen to it for free on iTunes (they start around 3:50).  Or I can just summarize it for you.  They play a portion of the song "Anne's Theme" which they played for our wedding (we actually had it arranged for them) and talk about how they would like to play it more often.  Because it's just that cool.

If you are looking for an ensemble for an event in or around Indianapolis, check out The Deoc Ensemble. We highly recommend them!  They were so wonderful to work with and I never had to worry about the music at all - I gave them the music and signed the paperwork and didn't have to stress about that aspect of the wedding any long.  It was fantastic.  And it also didn't hurt that my sisters had performed with them for a few years so we knew they were both talented and trustworthy.

thanks to my amazing sister for telling me about this podcast. :)

my only comfort

Question 1 (Heidelberg Catechism):

What is your only comfort in life and death?

Answer:

That I am not my own,
but belong--
  body and soul,
  in life and in death--
to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ.

He has fully paid for all my sins with His precious blood,
and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil.
He also watches over me in such a way
that not a hair can fall from my head
without the will of my Father in heaven:
in fact, all things must work together for my salvation.

Because I belong to Him,
Christ, by His Holy Spirit,
assures me of eternal life
and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready
from now on to live for Him.

opposites attract: we are a testimony

My husband's description of the last three days: "She's had a touch of a headache."

My description of the last three days: "I was on the verge of death!!!!"

Now granted, I am probably exaggerating...slightly.  But I ASSURE you that I have had much, much more than "a touch of a headache".

sister love

"The desire to be and have a sister is a primitive and profound one that may have everything or nothing to do with the family a woman is born to. It is a desire to know and be known by someone who shares blood and body, history and dreams . . ."
-Elizabeth Fishel

Today I am thankful for my four amazing sisters who are each fantastic in their own way. :)

Bon Joviver

Bon Jovi's song in the style of Bon Iver.  This is great. :)  I only wish they did the whole song!

legos for girls?! oh wait. those were created over 60 years ago.

(If you've somehow missed the controversy over the new line of LEGOs targeted at girls, you can read an introduction to the disagreement by checking out the links here and here and here and here.)

Why do toys need to be labeled as "boy toys" or "girls toys"?  Why must "girl toys" be pink, purple and sparkly?  And why do all the characters for "girl toys" end up being unrealistically skinny and shapely and look like valley girls?

gah!  "Girly LEGOs" are joining the list of banned toys for our future children.
